THE RACKET : LIST 16 - A Slide to the Left

In the making of LIST 16, two things have become readily apparent:

1. We like to dance. 

2. We like dance music.

It's just our dance club doesn't have flashing strobe lights and a DJ and the dialated pupils of gyrating young people waving their arms like they just do not care. Our dance club is small - more a cave than a warehouse - and dark, the strobe lights replaced with a handful of dim lightbulbs just barely illuminating a booth or two and the bar. The dance floor is just the space in front of the stage and let's be honest, it's probably empty aside from a few brave souls who bob their heads and shake their hips, the rest of us leaned against walls or in clumps around bar stools. In between songs half the place empties on to the street for cigarettes and maybe someone snuck a beer out and everybody steams a little with the sweat cooling in the chill night air. 

Our moves feel smaller, almost internal. A shake of the hands, a twitch of the pelvis, a slide to the left with a single shoe - all of it as close as we can to following a beat.

What we're trying to say is this is playlist we would dance to if given the right space, the right mood, the right company.
